Designing Multimodal Interactions for Seamless Reflective Learning

As robotics and generative AI evolve from tools to collaborators, expanding interdisciplinary educational practices, seamless tools built with such technology have the potential to mitigate skill disparities, blending
virtual and real educational spaces. This seminar invites Prof. Ivica Botički from the University of Zagreb to share the ongoing European research project MetaRoboLearn, part of which develops a custom four-wheeled robot and the associated supporting educational applications for seamless learning experiences. He will outline the potential for educational use across learning spaces.
The talk will follow up with a panel discussion with the invited speaker and members of the miXai project (a JSPS-funded international collaborative research project), from Kumamoto University and Kumamoto Kita High School. The project develops a multimodal analytics-enabled learning platform, LA-ReflecT, that supports reflective learning practices integrating various data-driven services. The participating teachers and students from the high school will share their experiences of using the LA-ReflecT system and discuss with the expert how multimodal learning continues to shape more immersive and personalized educational experiences in the near future.
